Builders Merchants are on their way to Honiton

MKM the largest independent builders merchants in the UK have taken occupation of Units 1-3 Heath trade Park, Heathpark, Honiton Devon, in one of the largest lettings in the town in recent years. The company is Hull based and was formed in 1995 by David Kilburn & Peter Murray, they operate from 42 branches with the furthest south so far being Deal in Kent on the east Coast, Honiton will comprise the 43 rd branch. They moved into their 1st purpose built branch in 1997 and have been growing at a rapid rate since, as yet little known in the South of the UK they are set to be an increasing force throughout the region.

Heath Trade Park was completed in 2004 by developers Wyncon who subsequently suffered from the last slump in the property market, the units have been unoccupied ever since. The building, constructed by Dean & Dyball, comprises 20,000 sq.ft. arranged in 3 units on a 1.66 acre fenced site. The location is only 20 mins East of Exeter on the A30 and services most of the East Devon catchment area. Adjoining occupiers include Argo, Homebase, Screwfix etc. in what is seen as an increasingly important location regionally.

Recently formed Industrial Agents Pepper Commercial of Exeter, Adam Parsons formerly of Aaron Fox represented the owners who are a firm of investors whilst MKM were represented by Yorkshire agents PPH Commercial. The building was marketed at an annual rental of £95,000 p.a. and strong interest was reported at the final stage of negotiations with several parties submitting proposals.
